Second Wind is a public reading series pairing students in University of Montana's Creative Writing MFA program with UM faculty, alumni, and community writers.
This week the program presents CutBank's own Emma Pfeiffer. Emma is a recovering seasonal park ranger, and a dual degree candidate for the MFA in nonfiction and MS in environmental studies. She's also an intersectional feminist, a wanderer, a cat lover, and (secretly) a poet. Her work has appeared in The Toast. Emma also serves as Interviews Editor for CutBank.
Kevin Canty's eighth book, a novel called The Underworld, was published by W. W. Norton in early 2017. He is also the author of three previous collections of short stories (Where the Money Went, Honeymoon, and A Stranger In This World) and four novels (Nine Below Zero, Into the Great Wide Open, Winslow in Love and Everything). His short stories have appeared in the New Yorker, Esquire, Granta, Tin House, GQ, Glimmer Train, Story, the New England Review, Best American Short Stories 2015and elsewhere; essays and articles in Vogue, Details, Playboy, the New York Times and the Oxford American, among many others. His work has been translated into French, Dutch, Spanish, Catalan, German, Polish, Italian and Japanese.
Join us in welcoming this week's readers at Ole Beck VFW Post 209, 245 W. Main Street, in Missoula, Montana. The readings begin at 6 pm: Come early for a good seat!
