Second Wind: a public reading series pairing students in University of Montana's Creative Writing MFA program with UM faculty, alumni, and community writers.
Readings are at 6:00 p.m. Sunday evenings at Kulture Kava, 420 N Higgins Ave in Missoula. (In the building behind Jimmy John’s) Admission is free!
Join us this Sunday, February 10, for an evening of reading with Emma Spencer and Susan Elizabeth Shepard.
Emma Spencer is a second year MFA candidate in poetry at the University of Montana. She is a 2018-19 co-recipient of the Goedicke/Robinson scholarship. Originally from Ellensburg, Washington, Emma got her BA at Central Michigan University, where she studied music and English with a concentration in creative writing. She is also a member of the Missoula Symphony Chorale and choral ensembles at United Church of Christ in Missoula.
Susan Elizabeth Shepard says:
I’m a writer currently living in Missoula, MT, and I most recently worked as a staff reporter and managing editor for special sections at a beloved alt-weekly, the Missoula Independent, which was closed in September 2018. You also might know me from the stories I’ve written about college football and free speech, stripping during the Bakken boom, my role in founding Tits and Sass, or from Twitter.
