Second Wind, Sunday February 17: Featuring Amelia Morand and Prageeta Sharma


Second Wind: a public reading series pairing students in University of Montana's Creative Writing MFA program with UM faculty, alumni, and community writers.

Readings are at 6:00 p.m. Sunday evenings at Kulture Kava, 420 N Higgins Ave in Missoula. (In the building behind Jimmy John’s) Admission is free!

Join us this Sunday, February 17, for an evening of reading with Amelia Morand and Prageeta Sharma.


Amelia Morand grew up in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Before coming to Montana, she completed her BS in Economics at Portland State University where she was awarded the Tom and Phyllis Burnham Scholarship for fiction. She recently received an Honorable Mention in Glimmer Train's 2018 Short Story Award for New Writers, and her work has been featured in apt.


Prageeta Sharma divides her time between Missoula, Montana and Seattle, Washington. She is the recipient of the 2010 Howard Foundation Award, and author of poetry collections Bliss to Fill (2000), The Opening Question (2004), which won the 2004 Fence Modern Poets Prize, Infamous Landscapes (2007), Undergloom (2013), and the forthcoming Grief Sequence (Wave Books, 2019). Currently a professor of English at the University of Montana and Founder of the conference Thinking Its Presence: Race, Creative Writing, Literary Studies and Art, Sharma will be joining the Pomona College English Department this fall as the Henry G. Lee '37 Professor of English.
