Imagine spending a month in Banff during the summer, with all expenses paid

Join 7 other established non-fiction writers seeking professional development with a community of peers for a fully-funded month-long creative journalism residency in the heart of the Canadian Rocky Mountains.

While completing a $2,000 commission

After acceptance to the program, writers are commissioned to develop a major essay, memoir, or feature piece in consultation with one of our experienced faculty editors. On successful submission of their manuscript by the end of the residency, writers will receive a $2,000 commission fee.

In the privacy of our Leighton Artists’ Colony

In between individual consultations with faculty and round-table discussions with fellow writers and guests, participants will work on their manuscripts and enjoy the seclusion of their own space within the colony of unique studios hidden in the pine groves on Tunnel Mountain.

With unparalleled opportunities to learn from experienced professionals

Advance your professional development through work with the program chair, experienced and exacting faculty editors, as well as through peer interaction with each other. In addition, a series of outstanding guest speakers give public talks and will be available to participants for informal discussions during the residency.

Apply by March 15 for Literary Journalism at The Banff Centre this summer.
